Spalding Public/Riverside Alumni,
It comes with great sadness that we have decided to announce the cancellation of the 94th Annual Alumni Banquet festivities that are normally held in Spalding over Memorial Day weekend. Due to the COVID-19 virus that is currently limiting gathering sizes across the country, this event is simply not possible. We had discussed a potential option of rescheduling for a later day this summer, but with all of the time needed for planning and reservations that have to be placed for the event and the uncertainty of when the restrictions might be lifted from this virus outbreak, this simply won’t allow us to put together the banquet that we feel this celebration deserves. For the benefit and protection of everyone involved with this great event we came to the difficult decision that it would be best to hold off until next year. However, the classes that were to be honored at the 2020 banquet will still be celebrated during the 2021 banquet along with the honored classes for that year. We are very sorry for any inconvenience that this decision may cause, but we sincerely hope that you will all join us again next year (May 30th, 2021) to celebrate this amazing annual gathering. Without all of you this great event in our small communities is not possible! We will still be sending out the annual newsletter, but not as early as normal so that we can allow the teachers and staff time to send anything they would like included this year. They have been very busy working to keep this school year running as seamlessly as possible with all of the changes they have had to make. If you could please help us to spread the word to any of your classmates or fellow alumni that may not see this message, we would greatly appreciate it.
