JH Charger Volleyball getting underway here in Spalding!
The Varsity VB Triangular at High Plains in Polk Tuesday Sept 14th will start for Riverside at 5:00. We will play again at 6:00. Go Chargers!!!

Homecoming 2021 was celebrated the week of September 7th through September 10th. Students and staff took part in spirit days, parade in Spalding, cross country, volleyball and football games and last the homecoming dance on Friday night.
The spirit days included: Holiday Day on Tuesday, Elderly Day on Wednesday, Biker Day on Thursday, and Blue and Gold on Friday.
During the week, students created class banners that were hung in the gym. Also, they worked on decorations for class floats.
On Friday, all students went to Spalding to decorate floats, take part in the parade, cheer the Charger football and volleyball teams to victory and dance the night away.
The Seniors took the high school float competition and also took home the Class Spirit Award. The Junior class took home the high school banner competition. For the elementary best float went to the second and third grade while the middle school champion float went to the 8th grade. Banner winners for Cedar Rapids site elementary was 4th grade. Banner winners for Spalding site elementary was 2nd and 3rd grade and for middle school was 8th grade.
The crowning took place at Riverside Public School Gymnasium.
Freshmen attendants were Drew Carraher, son of Kurt and Holly Carraher and Ashley Weltruski daughter of Jeff and Sandy Weltruski
Sophomore attendants were Billy Glesinger son of Terry and Alisha Glesinger and Kaimyn Rutten daughter of Nena Rutten
Junior attendants were Brandon Sensenig Son of Coleen Wireman and Jazmine Walz daughter of Lenora Reed.
The 2021 king was Tony Berger son of Dave and Arlene Berger.
The 2021 queen was Hope Schalk daughter of Joel and Dee Schalk
The king was crowned by the 2020 king Michael Bernt son of Denny and Carey Bernt.
The queen was crowned by the 2020 queen Neeley Greger daughter of Scott and Cyndi Greger
Students enjoyed pizza and pop with bars and cookies during the dance. Tom and Lisa Hamling served the meal. The DJ, Mr. Jerry Esch played the music as requested by the student body. Thanks to Student Council for organizing homecoming activities!
